CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern is set to host three track and field events this spring as Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jim Stintzi announced the 2016-17 indoor and outdoor schedules on Tuesday afternoon.
CSU will host three events at the Bagwell-Settle Track this season including the 2016 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships held on May 10-12. The Bucs will also host the CSU Spring Break Invitational on March 17-18 and the Holy City Relays on March 24-25 as a part of a challenging schedule in place for CSU.
"We are excited about our 2017 track schedule. In addition to competing at some great meets in the southeast – we are excited to host three home meets," Stintzi said. "Our CSU Spring Break Invitational will feature over 15 teams from all over the U.S. The Holy City Relays will consist of mostly local teams. Last but certainly not least, we are hosting the Big South Championships – which should be exciting for our fans, as well as our team."
CSU opens the indoor season on the road at the Clemson Invitational on January 14. The following weekend the Bucs travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take on the field at the Wake Forest Invitational on January 21.
The Bucs continue the indoor season at the beginning of February at the Camel City Invitational on February 3-4. CSU closes out the indoor regular season at the Samford Invitational held in Birmingham, Ala. on February 10-11.
The Big South Conference Indoor Championships will be held on February 25-26 in Winston-Salem, N.C. The 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships are held in College Station, Texas, on March 10-11.
CSU opens the outdoor season at home with the CSU Spring Break Invitational on March 17-18. The Bucs remain at home the following weekend with the Holy City Relays at Bagwell-Settle Track on March 24-25. Members of the CSU team will also take part in the Raleigh Relays on the same weekend.
The Bucs end the month of March and open April at the Florida Relays hosted by the University of Florida, and at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point on March 30-April 1. CSU is back together as a team at the Tiger Classic on April 7-8 hosted by Auburn University in Auburn, Ala.
CSU closes out the outdoor regular season at the Lowcountry Invitational (April 15) and the University of South Carolina Invitational (April 22).
The Bucs host the Big South Outdoor Championships from May 10-12. The NCAA East Regional will be held in Lexington, Ky. on May 25-27. The NCAA Outdoor Championships, hosted in Eugene, Ore., are set for June 7-10.
