SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Charleston Southern finished 11th overall at the Wofford Invitational as the Buccaneers wrapped up the three-round tournament at the Country Club of Spartanburg on Tuesday afternoon.
The Buccaneers finished the final round with a team score of 297, 9-over-par through the 18 holes. CSU wrapped up the event with a final score 890, 26-over-par to finish sixth among the Big South teams in the field.
Furman won the event as the Paladins finished under par in all three rounds on their way to finishing 25-under over the two days. Austin Peay (+2) was second, while Radford (+3), USC Upstate (+7), Gardner-Webb (+9) and Belmont (+9) rounded out the top five.
Furman's Jack Crosby paced the field at 13-under-par to claim medalist honors at the tournament. South Carolina's Ryan Hall (-7) was second overall, while Tennessee Tech's Bracton Womack and Austin Peay's Chase Korte finished 5-under-par to tie for third in the field.
Brandon Smith topped the Bucs' finishers at their final round leading up to the Big South Championships. Smith wrapped up his final 18 holes with a 74, 2-over-par to finish tied for 31st overall in the field.
Elliot Gothe carded a final round 75 to finish 11-over-par in the event. The junior wrapped up the event finishing tied for 53rd overall with a three-round score of 227.
Brandon McBride wrapped up the group finishing tied for 58th in the field. The freshman carded a 77 over the final 18 holes on his way to finishing 12-over-par in the event.
Charleston Southern is back in action at the 2019 Big South Men's Golf Championships scheduled to run from April 17-20 at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C.
