CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charleston Southern senior Taylor Zoller (Summerville, S.C.) has been named Choice Hotels Big South Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Friday.
Zoller finished third at the Elon Phoenix Invitational (par 71, 6,867 yards) with a 7-under 206 (75-64-67) to help the Buccaneers to a runner-up team finish. He had 14 birdies and an eagle in the tournament to lead CSU's surge from ninth after the opening round and into sole possession of second in the 16-team field. The transfer and Charleston-area product fired a 7-under 64 in the second round to match the lowest total in round in CSU history. His 7-under par was the second lowest total to par in a single round. He fired a 67 (-4) in the final round and had a 30-foot putt on the final hole of the event to tie for medalist honors at Alamance Country Club.
The Bucs get little rest after a tournament earlier in the week. CSU will play 36 holes on Saturday in the opening rounds of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Camden Country Club. The event is hosted by South Carolina.
Campbell junior Nadine White (Brisbane, Australia) was named the Choice Hotels Big South Women's Golfer of the Week. In addition, Longwood's Jordan Boulton (Mansfield, England) and Winthrop's Chelsea Dantonio (Lancaster, N.Y.) have been selected The Crons Brand Freshmen of the Week.
