First round halted by weather at Big South Championships; Bucs eighth in tight field

NINETY SIX, S.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The first round of the 2015 Big South Men's Golf Championship has been suspended due to inclement weather. The start of the round was delayed 3 hours and 30 minutes due to early morning rain and was switched to a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start.

All 10 teams were able to complete nine holes, with most groups finishing 11 or 12 holes of competition. A lightning strike at 3:32 p.m. first halted play, and heavy thunderstorms soon followed that led to the suspension of competition.

Charleston Southern is currently in eighth at 2-over par, but only eight shots separate the Bucs from early leader Costal Carolina.

The first round will restart at 10:00am Monday morning, followed by the second round. Unofficially, Coastal Carolina was at 6-under par at the time of the suspension, followed by Radford at 4-under, Liberty, Winthrop and Campbell tied at 3-under, and Longwood at 2-under.

Individually, Coastal Carolina's Ben Wheeler -- the defending Big South individual champion, and Longwood's Alex O'Dell are unofficially atop the leaderboard at 3-under par.

The 2015 Big South Men's Golf Championship, which is being contested at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor (par 72, 7,120 yards), is free and open to the public, and can be followed online at www.BigSouthSports.com via GolfStat's "Live Scoring" feature.
