Swan’s 2-under 70 highlights Bucs’ final round at The Hootie

AWENDAW, S.C. – Senior Jarrett Swan posted Charleston Southern's lowest round of the tournament with a 2-under 70 in the final round of The Hootie on Tuesday at Bulls Bay. The Buccaneers finished 15th at the event, posting a 295 in their final round, shaving 20 strokes off their score from the previous two days. 

Swan made three birdies on the day and bogeyed only the par-3 fourth hole to post CSU's best score of the event. He finished tied for 61st

No. 5 South Carolina shot a scorching 17-under 271 to win the event at 838 (-26). The Gamecocks finished 11 strokes ahead of No. 26 New Mexico and 13 strokes in front of GRU Augusta. 

Coastal Carolina's Andrew Dorn, South Carolina's Matthew NeSmith, and New Mexico's Gavin Green all tied for medalist honors at 11-under par. Green fired a 66 (-6) on Tuesday. 

Swan wasn't the only Bucs with a solid showing on Tuesday. Freshmen R.J. Keur and Jake Ezell hot matching 73s in the final round. Ezell tied for 64th, while Keur was 67th

Keur had an eagle on the par-5 fourth and added three birdies in his round, while Ezell was steady with two birdies and four bogeys. 

Senior Will Pieper posted a wild 79 (+7) in a round that included four birdies, two on each nine, and two double bogeys. 

Freshman Dylan Patscot had a birdie in firing his 79 (+7). 

CSU returns to action next week at the Gary Koch Invitational in Gastonia, N.C.
