PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - The Charleston Southern Buccaneers are 15th through two rounds at the 2013 SeaBest Invitational. Both rounds were played on Monday at the Stadium Course at the TPC Sawgrass.
CSU sophomore Jarrett Swan is tied for 24th and is 9-over through two rounds. He opened with a 76 on the par-72 course, which also hosts THE PLAYERS Championship. He was 2-under through an 11-hole stretch in his opening round before finishing with back-to-back bogeys. He also went par-par on the famous par-3 17th hole, which gave the Bucs problems all day.
Swan is a stroke ahead of fellow-sophomore Choo Teck Ng. He opened with a 75, before finishing the day at 10-over with a 79 in his second round.
"It was a rough day on the course for us," CSU head coach Mike Wilson said Monday night. "We are young and need to learn to handle tough golf courses. Our attitude is really good and welre look forward to improving tomorrow."
No. 26 Tennessee leads the tournament at 3-over par. It leads No. 30 Texas A&M by six strokes. Coastal Carolina is third, 17 off the pace set by the Vols.
Freshman Nicolas Baena and junior Ross Thomson are tied for 69th. Baena opened with an 88, but bounced back with a 79 in the afternoon. Thomson shot a pair of 83s for his day. Freshman John Graves is 75th in the event.
The Bucs will be chasing USC Upstate, Florida Gulf Coast, and Wofford to try to improve their finish in Tuesday morning's final round.
