Charleston, S.C. – Charleston Southern is ranked in the top 40 in seven different team statistical categories heading into the third week of Big South Conference play. The Bucs are in the top five in three separate team categories (turnovers forced, offensive rebounds per game, and turnover margin).
CSU continues to be among the national leaders defensively sitting second in the country in turnovers forced on the year. The added pressure brought about by the Bucs' trapping defense puts the Bucs (19.88) just behind national leader Florida International (21.68) in the category.
CSU is fourth in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game with 14.88. The Bucs have three players ranked among the Big South leaders on the offensive glass this season led by Travis McConico's 2.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore Ty Jones (1.9) and freshmen Timmy Sellers (1.9) and Duncan LeXander (1.9) are also among the conference leaders.
With the Bucs' prowess in the turnover game has also come with a fantastic turnover margin. CSU is currently +5.24 on the season to sit fifth overall in the country in the category. Presbyterian is the next closest Big South team at +4.00 sitting 19th in the NCAA.
The Bucs are also 13th in the NCAA in steals per game (9.1), 27th in total steals (155), 37th in three-pointers per game (9.6) and 40th in total three-point attempts (499).
CSU continues the 2018-19 season this week with a Thursday road game at Radford before hosting Gardner-Webb this weekend in the Buccaneer Field House on Saturday afternoon.
