Game 12 Notes: Charleston Southern vs. Johnson & Wales
CSU (4-7) is looking to head into Christmas break on a winning note with an eye toward the start of Big South Conference play on Jan. 5. The Bucs' final league game is Dec. 30 against Piedmont International. Johnson & Wales (5-6), a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) program out of Charlotte, will be playing its fourth Division I opponent of the year. The Wildcats fell to UNCG, The Citadel and Gardner-Webb.
On Tuesday at Clemson, CSU wrapped up a challenging three-game road swing with a 78-51 loss. The Bucs trailed by just eight points at halftime, but the Tigers ripped off an 18-0 run over the opening 3:29 of the second half to take control. Christian Keeling buried a career-high five three-pointers en route to 25 points to pace CSU.
Johnson & Wales enters off an 89-82 win over the Apprentice School. Majerle Poole leads the Wildcats, averaging 17 points per game. Robert Hobson averages 15.5 and has knocked down 38 threes at a 38 percent clip.
Friday's matchup marks the fourth in the last five seasons between the two programs. CSU has won the previous three by an average of 41 points, including a 102-58 triumph last December.
