Winthrop received all 30 first-place votes and was tabbed as the preseason favorite. Liberty, UNC Asheville, Gardner-Webb and High Point make up the rest of the top five. Radford was picked sixth, just ahead of Charleston Southern. Rounding out the poll after the Bucs is Campbell, Longwood and Presbyterian.

Led by two-time Big South Coach of the Year Barclay Radebaugh, the Bucs return three starters and five letterwinners from last season's team. Highlighting that group is sophomore point guard Armel Potter, a pick to the Preseason All-Big South Conference Second Team. A group of seven newcomers, along with redshirt freshman Antwan Maxwell, is also ready to make an impact as they did during a 3-0 trip to Canada this August.

CSU opens the season on Nov. 12 at Florida State. The Bucs start Big South play at home on Dec. 29 against Winthrop.
