CHARLESTON, S.C. – The final installment of CSU Sports Information's look at the 2019 roster finishes with the outfielders ahead of the season opener Friday night against LaSalle.
Senior centerfielder Josh Litchfield headlines a strong returning corps after being named both the Big South and Charleston Southern Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2018. Litchfield posted a 4.0 GPA across his first two semesters on campus while leading the outfield in runs scored a season ago.
Senior centerfielder Josh Litchfield made an appearance in all 54 games last season starting 53 and posting a .273/.332/.356 slash line on his way to being named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Junior Derek Horton also saw plenty of time his first season at CSU appearing in 45 games and hitting six home runs – tied for most on the squad.
Now a junior, Alex Andronica split time on the infield as well as both corner outfield positions scoring 12 times and drawing 12 walks in 119 at-bats. Senior Jack DeLongchamps has made the transition to full-time outfielder after seeing time behind the plate earlier in his career while classmate Josh Peters enters his second year at CSU after appearing in 19 games and taking 46 at-bats a season ago.
Freshman Kyle Horton joins his older brother Derek in the outfield after being ranked the No. 1 outfield prospect in the state of Virginia by Pro-Baseball Reference and top-500 overall prospect via Perfect Game. Junior corner outfielder Dante Blakeney joins the Bucs after two seasons as Florence Darlington Tech Junior College and looks to compete for playing time along with freshman Max Ryerson and junior Kyle Sandstrom.
