Midweek Comeback Falls Short as Bucs Drop Contest with College of Charleston

Charleston, S.C. - In a game that was close throughout, Charleston Southern (11-20) couldn't compete the comeback in their midweek game with College of Charleston (22-9), falling 5-4 on Wednesday night.

Wednesday's game started similar to Tuesday's as Logan McRae hit a two run home run in the top of the first to give College of Charleston the lead. In the fourth inning, the Cougars added another run off of a CSU error to give them the 3-0 lead.

The Bucs responded in the fourth inning when Ryan Stoudemire doubled down the right field line to bring home two runs and cut the CofC lead to one. The Cougars added two more runs in the sixth inning, but Derek Horton quickly brought CSU back within one on his two run home run.

CSU had trouble finishing off the comeback in the later innings. The Bucs had just one hit in the final three innings and couldn't spark a rally to overcome the one run deficit.

Clay Hunt (4-0) got the win for College of Charleston, pitching four innings and allowing two unearned runs on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Jaret Bennett (0-4) took the loss for CSU, working four innings and allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits and two strikeouts.

Nathan Ocker (7) picked up the save, throwing four scoreless innings with two hits and six strikeouts.
