Charleston, S.C. - Charlotte put on an impressive offensive display with 14 runs on 17 hits in their win over Charleston Southern 14-3 on Wednesday night.
CSU actually took the first lead of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Aaron Miller came up with two on and hit a grounder that looked like it would be a double play. Miller hustled and beat out the throw from second. Mike Sconzo came around from second and attempted to score on the play. The throw from first went wide and Sconzo scored to give CSU the 1-0 lead.
Charlotte quickly responded to take the lead and never looked back. Two singles brought home three runs in the top of the second and back-to-back homers scored three more in the third.They added four more in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Colby Bruce (1-0) got the win for Charlotte. He threw five innings with four hits, two runs, one earned, three strikeouts.
Jaret Bennett (0-1) took the loss for CSU, pitching three innings and allowing 10 runs on 12 hits, one walk, and three strikeouts.

- Jason Miller (2-for-4) was the only CSU batter other than Sconzo to record more than one hit.
- Kyle Khachadourian made his CSU debut and pitched two innings in relief.
