Ryan Gunther

2012: Appeared in 15 games on the hill, starting 14…finished the year a tough-luck 0-8 but pitched well for much of the season, posting a 4.25 ERA over 82.2 innings while yielding 96 hits, 50 runs (39 earned) and 23 walks…struck out 64 batters…worked at least 7 innings in half of his 14 starts, including a stretch of four in arrow from March 17 through April 6…notched a career-high eight strikeouts and gave up only 1 earned run over 7 innings while taking a hard-luck loss versus Marshall on February 25…registered a no-decision with career-long 7.2 innings of one-run ball (unearned) at UNC Asheville on April 6…also logged 7.2 innings despite taking loss versus Penn on March 17…struck out four over 7 innings of five-run ball while picking up no-decision in Big South Tournament opener  versus Coastal Carolina on May 22.

Prior to CSU: Played for Mike Kennedy at Elon University for a season, finishing with a 1-0 record… Then went on to play for Tim Wallace at Spartanburg Methodist College… Went 5-2 with an ERA of 2.62 in 2011 at SMC.

High School:  A three-year letterwinner under head coach John Chalus at nearby Stratford High School… Went 13-2 in his career at Startford… Compiled a 7-1 record with a 0.72 ERA as a senior in 2009… A two-time HSSR All-State honoree… Named to the 7-AAAA All-Region team… SCBCA All-State team… HIT All-Tournament team… Diamond Prospect “All-DP” team… Ranked the third-best pitcher in the S.C. Diamond King Award by DP… Diamond Prospect All-Academic team… CABA All-Tournament team.
