CHARLESTON –
Chandler Tuupo was selected as the Big South Player of the Week on Tuesday, February 24 after having a record setting week individually and helping the team to theirs as well. This becomes his first time earning the accolade in his career.
This past weekend, Tuupo set the school record for career RBIs, passing Jordan Haar (2002-05) who had 147 in his four-year career. Additionally, Tuupo helped the team to a 4-0 record on the week to move to 7-0 on the season, their best start in program history. They defeated North Florida on the road and swept Elon in a three-game series over the weekend.
Across the four games, Tuupo batted .529, had on base percentage of .600 and slugged 1.118. He collected 12 RBIs, scored five runs and had three home runs. He had a career-high of six RBIs in the win over Elon in the series finale on Sunday. They came off a double to clear the bases when they were loaded as well as a three-run home run that gave CSU their first lead of the day. He had three hits in the contest as well as their game at North Florida earlier in the week. In the series opener against Elon and the UNF game he collected three RBIs and had a home run too.
Charleston Southern is back in action this week with them hosting UNC Wilmington on Wednesday, February 25 at Nielsen Field @ CSU Ballpark. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. with the game to be available live on ESPN+.
