FARMVILLE, Va. – Despite a strong second-half push, the Charleston Southern women's soccer team saw its 2025 season come to an end Saturday night with a 2-0 loss at third-seeded Longwood in the Big South Quarterfinals at the Longwood Athletics Complex.
The match was scoreless through the opening 45 minutes as goalkeeper Avery Mason turned away three first-half shots to keep the Bucs level. CSU generated limited looks in the first period but began to build momentum after halftime, outshooting the Lancers 8-7 over the final 45 minutes.
Longwood broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when Meghan Piazza converted a penalty kick to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. Ten minutes later, the Lancers doubled their lead as Remi Siner finished off a feed from Sarah Olson.
Charleston Southern continued to press in the final 20 minutes, with Jenéa Knight, Delaney Evers, and Sedona Dancu each testing the keeper, but Longwood's defense held firm to close out the match.
