Bucs Celebrate Alumni Day with Shutout Victory

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - Nealy Lamb tossed her second complete-game shutout in a row on Sunday afternoon, as the Charleston Southern softball team capped off the weekend with a 5-0 victory over the Radford Highlanders at CSU Softball Field.

Gracie Prince broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning, as she bashed her third home run of the season to give the Buccaneers (20-21, 7-5 in conference) a 1-0 lead.

The bats kept on in the bottom of the fifth inning, as the Bucs sent eight hitters to the plate and scored four runs. Harper Schoeneweis and Charlee Yourman got the inning going with back-to-back singles and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Then, Emma Villaescusa made it 2-0 with an RBI single.

Madelyne Lee followed that up with an RBI single that scored Blakely Kingsmore, who came into pinch run for Yourman. After that, Carsten Sandvig and Gracie Prince added on to the lead with RBI ground outs.

Charleston Southern scratched across seven hits on the afternoon, including two from Schoeneweis.

Lamb improved to 11-7 on the season with the win. She finished the weekend with 14.0 scoreless innings allowing just six hits combined and striking out 10 batters over two games.
