CONWAY, S.C. - The Charleston Southern softball team wrapped up their 10-game road trip on Wednesday with a doubleheader against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, dropping both games by a 10-0 and 7-0 score.
Game One
Coastal Carolina (23-16) took advantage of four-straight walks to begin the bottom of the first inning, followed by a grand slam to make it 5-0. The Chanticleers scored all five runs on just one hit.
Blake Holtorf started for the Bucs (18-19, 5-4 in conference) and did not record an out, allowing four runs and four walks. She was charged with the loss to fall to 2-2 on the season.
The Chanticleers added four more in the bottom of the second inning with a home run and a double off
Riley Lauffer. They tallied one more in the third inning to take the 10-0 lead. The game ended after five innings because of the run rule.
Lauffer allowed six runs on nine hits, five walks and two strikeouts in relief for the Bucs.
Game Two
Nealy Lamb held the Chanticleers (24-16) in check through 4.0 innings, only allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks and one strikeout. She was tabbed with the loss to fall to 9-7 on the season.
Coastal Carolina got the bats going in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring five runs to take a 7-0 lead. Charleston Southern (18-20, 5-4 in conference) did not pick up their first base hit until the top of the sixth inning.
On Deck
Charleston Southern will play at home this weekend for the first time in 19 days, as they host the Radford Highlanders in a three-game series beginning on Saturday.
Alumni Weekend will start on Saturday with a 3 PM start time followed by game two at approximately 5 PM. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
