Bucs Surrender Lead Late in One-Run Loss to Yellow Jackets

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – After jumping out to an early lead, the Charleston Southern softball team could not overcome a two-out rally by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a 4-3 defeat on Tuesday night at CSU Softball Field.

Charleston Southern (13-13) carried a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning, but Georgia Tech (20-10) sent nine to the plate, as Nealy Lamb could not finish the inning. After surrendering two walks, hitting two batters and surrendering a hit, Lamb allowed a two-run single to give the Yellow Jackets the 4-3 lead.

The Bucs scored in each of the first two innings, as Harper Schoeneweis scored Weslin Jones on a sacrifice fly in the first inning, and BriAnna Brooks scored Linley Jones in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly as well.

Charleston Southern added one more in the bottom of the fourth inning. A ground ball by Cadence Walding was knocked down by the Georgia Tech shortstop and bounced away, scoring Linley Jones from second base.
