TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Charleston Southern softball team competed in day one of the Dugout Club Classic on Friday against No. 11 Florida State, dropping the first game by a 9-2 score and the second game by a 9-1 score.
Game One
The Bucs (6-5) took the lead in the top of the first on an unearned run, as
Carsten Sandvig reached on an error and came around to score on a passed ball. Then, tied at one in the bottom of the forth inning, the Seminoles (8-3) got to
Annah Junge for seven runs on five hits.
Junge took the loss to fall to 2-4 on the season. She allowed eight runs (seven earned) on six hits and walked two in 3.0+ innings pitched.
Blake Holtorf pitched the final 3.0 innings allowing one unearned run on three hits and walked three batters.
Game Two
Charleston Southern (6-6) once again took the lead early, as Madleyne Lee brought in Charlee Youman for the game's first run. The Seminoles (9-3) responded with a run in the third inning and three runs in the third and fourth innings off of
Riley Lauffer and
Nealy Lamb.
Lauffer took the loss allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks in 3.0 innings. She fell to 0-2 on the season with the loss. She gave way to
Nealy Lamb, who pitched the final 2.1 innings to finish the game that lasted just six innings. She allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and walked three batters.
On Deck
Day two of the tournament will take place for the Bucs tomorrow, as they will get their games out of the way early with a 10 AM first pitch against Florida International. They will follow that with a 12:30 PM battle with the Panthers. Neither game will be streamed but can be followed on stat broadcast.
