FORYSTH, GA. – Charleston Southern concluded their fall season at the Mercer Invitational on Tuesday afternoon taking 9
th in a field of 12 teams.
The Bucs finished with a team score of +58 having their best round of the week come in the second as they had a team score of +14. They were able to place higher than West Georgia, Seminole State (FL) and Stonehill.
The Bucs were paced by
Odette Font Garcia who ended the week in a tie for 11
th as she had a total score of +3. She had a 73 in the first round and followed it with a bogey free round of 69 to wrap up day one. She shot 77 in Tuesday morning to finish the event.
Katie Stephens was next in the line at +16 with
Isabella Galla right behind at +17. Each of them had their best rounds come in the second as they fired 75s which included three birdies during it.
Chayse Cool competed as an individual at the event and fired a career best 73 in the final round. She finished with +18 over the 54 holes, a career low for her.
Additionally, competing in Buccaneers' lineup this week were
Eugenie Varet and
Paige Zolciak. Varet finished at +28 and Zolciak at +30. This marked Zolciak's first competition with the Bucs.
Jacksonville won the team title with a total score of +3 with the hosts, Mercer, taking runner-up at +5. Georgia State's TK Kongthong and #60 Gabi Nicastro shared the individual title at -5.
Charleston Southern will return to the course for the spring with their annual home tournament. They will host this year's Rivertowne Invitational from Sunday, February 16 through Tuesday, February 18 down the road in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
