Softball Drops Both Installments on the Road at Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Charleston Southern softball team dropped both installments of a Big South twinbill Saturday on the road, as Longwood defended home turf to take both games.

Charleston Southern (16-22, 5-8 Big South) led in the second contest after trailing the whole way in the first. In game one, the Bucs found a run in the seventh to build momentum into the final installment.

Game One
Longwood (21-14, 8-2 Big South) found each of its three runs in the third frame as a CSU miscue started the Lancer rally.

The lone Charleston Southern run came to the credit of Lexi Markle as she came around to score on a Gracie Prince single into right. The Buccaneers out-hit Longwood, doubling them up in the stat (six to three).

Lauffer went the distance, throwing 6.0 innings, allowing two earned on three hits, four walks and two punchies. She fell to 1-14 on the season. Price shined in the batter's box, going three-for-three with the lone CSU run batted in.

Game Two
After Longwood found the first run of the game in the first frame, Charleston Southern took its first lead of the day with a Raleigh Lewis two-run shot to left as Charlie Yourman was also plated.

The Lancers would answer right back, finding three runs in the third to re-take the lead and not look back from there. An insurance run came across to score for Longwood to make it a 5-2 ballgame.

BriAnna Brooks and Yourman were the standouts in the finale for the Bucs, as they each recorded two hits.

On Deck
The season finale comes at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, as the Bucs will look to leave Farmville with a win.
