Women's Basketball Drops Regular-Season Finale

CLINTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's basketball team was defeated on Saturday by the Presbyterian Blue Hose in the final regular season game of the 2022-23 season. The score was 64-53.

Zaire Hicks led the way with 17 points on 6/10 shooting, and Madison Adamson had her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

First Half
Presbyterian (13-16, 9-9 in conference) controlled the first quarter from the beginning, racing out to an 8-0 lead just two and a half minutes in. The Bucs (5-24, 3-15 in conference) did not get their first basket until the 6:44 mark of the first quarter.

After that, it was all Blue Hose, as their lead got to as high as 17 points with 1:46 left to make it 22-5. Then, the Bucs closed the quarter with eight-straight points to cut the deficit to nine entering quarter number two.

In the second quarter, the lead for the Blue Hose was back up to double digits quickly, as they got back up to as high as 16 points mid-way through. The Bucs went on a pair of scoring droughts that lasted over three minutes. A Tori Gittens three-pointer made it a 13-point lead at halftime.

Second Half
The momentum for the Blue Hose carried into the third quarter, as their lead got up to 20 points with 5:01 left and stayed there for the rest of the quarter.

The lead went up to 23 points with 7:59 left in the game, but the Bucs kept plugging away and went on a 14-0 run of their own. Adamson and Hicks both scored four points during that run, as the Bucs cut the deficit to single digits with 1:32 left.
