Box Score JOHNSON CITY, TN - The Charleston Southern women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start on Wednesday night, falling to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers by a 79-52 final. 

Catherine Alben tied a career high tonight with 25 points with 13 of those coming in the second half. She also led the team in assists with four and steals with three. Maya Robinson also had a career high on the night, as she scored 11 points in 26 minutes of play off of the bench. Madison Adamson led the team with 10 rebounds with Kennedi Jackson right behind her pulling down nine boards.

Both teams had a hard time getting going from the field, as Charleston Southern (2-7) did not score their first basket until the six-minute mark of the first quarter. ETSU then went on a run to take a 17-5 lead at the end of the opening quarter. ETSU was able to keep the momentum going in the second quarter, as they shot 50.0% from the field and took a 40-15 lead into the locker room. 

ETSU's lead went to as high as 32 in the third quarter, but CSU was able to outscore ETSU 24-21 in the fourth quarter. Alben and Adamson both had six points in the final quarter.  CSU turned the ball over 18 times on the night leading to 27 points the other way. They allowed ETSU to shoot 51.7% from the field, which was a season high.

Charleston Southern will get a week off until they travel to Statesboro, GA next Thursday to take on the Georgia Southern Eagles next Thursday at 11 a.m. on ESPN+. This will be the return trip for the Bucs, as the Eagles came to the Buc Dome last year, winning 96-65.
