CONWAY, S.C. – Charleston Southern fell to Coastal Carolina on the road the night before Thanksgiving by a final score of 78-60.
Catherine Alben led the team in scoring as she posted 23 for a season-high and the fourth time she has exceeded 20 in her career.
The visiting Buccaneers sprinted out to an early 12-3 in the first four minutes of play, using a 6-0 run to surge ahead. The teams traded points over the next few minutes, but the Chants pieced together the next ten points to take their first lead of the night.
Kennedi Jackson stopped the run with an and-one in the final minute of the first to take a 20-18 edge into the break.
Coastal Carolina regained the lead in the first minute off a three-pointer and never looked back as they stretched their advantage up to 11 late in the quarter. Heading into halftime the score was 34-26.
Charleston Southern continued to hold tight against the Chanticleers and found their shooting touch again in the second half scoring a total of 34 in it.
Madison Adamson played all 40 minutes on the floor and finished with 12 points off 5-6 shooting.
Alaina Nettles also got into double figures for scoring as she had 10. Both players added four boards and four assists as well.
Saniya Jones had the team-high in rebounds with six.
The Chanticleers had five players finish with at least 10 points on the night with Dalanna Carter leading the team with 15. The hosts also had two players finish with nine rebounds in Makaila Change and Alancia Ramsey.
The Buccaneers will return to the court after Thanksgiving with a home Saturday matchup with Mercer on Saturday, November 25 with a tipoff slated for 2:00 p.m. inside The Buc Dome. The action will be made available live on ESPN+.
