CSU drops home contest to Radford Tuesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern was unable to hold back a fourth-quarter rally by visiting Radford Tuesday night inside the Buc Dome, as the Highlanders overcame a deficit to take the 56-52 win between the two Big South opponents.

THREE IN DOUBLE FIGURES FOR THE THIRD-STRAIGHT TIME
The Buccaneers continued to find balanced scoring across the squad with three players reaching double-digit points for the third-straight game with Sha'Mya Leigh and Tori Gittens leading the way with 11 apiece. The duo combined to convert over one-half of its attempts, dropping in 9-of-17 and three of the team's six triples, all off the hands of Gittens.

Joining the pair in double figures was Janaia Fargo, who reached the double-digit mark for the entirety of the team streak, including equaling her career-best 18 in Saturday's triumph over USC Upstate. She added a pair of treys to factor into the mix.

BALTEZEGAR LEADS ON THE GLASS
Two-time Big South Freshman of the Week Skylar Baltezegar commanded the paint with nine rebounds, helping the Bucs own a 32-to-31 edge in the battle of the boards. All eight players who saw action for Charleston Southern (2-17, 2-6 Big South) hauled in at least two caroms with Sharita Godfrey and Madison Adamson securing five and four, respectively.

LEIGH SETS CAREER HIGH
In addition to her 11 points, Leigh also shared game-high honors with a career-best four steals. She had previously swiped three in nine games during her CSU career but topped it with an additional one against the Highlanders.

SWEEP THE SPECIALTY STATS
Although the Bucs were unable to claim the victory, they did get the better of Radford (5-11, 1-4 Big South) in the specialty numbers, holding the advantages in points off turnovers (14-9), points-in-the-paint (24-20), second-chance points (9-3) and fast-break points (10-2).
