Bucs edged by Camels in pitchers’ duel

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Holly Clark threw her third complete game of the season Sunday afternoon, but Campbell squeaked past the visiting Bucs in a pitchers' duel, 2-1, at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.

Clark allowed four hits and struck out four. SeaEnna Satcher and Dominique Mannerino had two hits apiece, with the latter of the two providing the lone RBI for the Bucs.

The Bucs took the lead in the third inning when Mannerino hit an RBI single into shallow right field, scoring Ashley Meckley in the process. The Camels tied the game in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly and took the lead for good in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk.

Clark retired nine straight batters after the bases-loaded walk to keep the Bucs' chances alive. CSU had multiple opportunities to add to its run total throughout the game, but the Bucs stranded 10 runners in the game and left the bases loaded twice.

How They Scored
  • The Bucs opened the scoring in the third inning on a Dominique Mannerino RBI single to right, scoring Ashley Meckley.
  • Campbell tied the game in the bottom of the third on a Delaney McDilda sacrifice fly.
  • The Camels scored the go-ahead run in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk.
