Bucs to play host to Daniel Island Intercollegiate to conclude fall

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern men's golf program will put a cap on its fall schedule by playing host to the two-day, 54-hole Daniel Island Intercollegiate Sunday and Monday at the Daniel Island Club on Daniel Island.

JEFFERS' THOUGHTS
"We are extremely excited to host the inaugural Daniel Island Intercollegiate," head coach Jordan Jeffers said. "Some of the top programs from around the US are coming.

"We are thankful to CSU alum and head golf professional Greg Beaven, director of golf operations Chris Edwards and everyone at the Daniel Island Club for allowing us to host on their premier course. The club was the venue for numerous Web.com Tour Championships so I know it is going to be a great test."

BUILDING ON LAST EVENT
The Buccaneers will look to carry over the momentum they earned from their last time out, at the Grandover Collegiate in Greensboro, North Carolina. Although the squad placed 11th, the four counters each round posted 296s across the board in a consistent effort throughout.

Alan Smith fired a 1-under par 215 to finish 11th on the individual leaderboard, climbing up following a final-round 69.

REGIONAL PLAY
Two of the previous fall three tournaments to finish were contested in the Carolinas, starting with an in-state trip to Spartanburg for the Carolina Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 11-12) before last week's Grandover Collegiate across the state line.

CSU also made the trek to Gadsden, Alabama, Sept. 27-28 for the Graeme McDowell Intercollegiate. The season-opening event, the Battle at Briar's Creek on Johns Island was canceled due to inclement weather on day one.
