Bucs fall short in weekend matchup against Radford

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern's fourth-quarter fireworks were not enough to bring the Buccaneers back into the game on Saturday afternoon as CSU fell to visiting Radford in Big South play, 64-40.

CSU (3-19, 1-12 Big South) rallied in the fourth quarter behind Tierra Steede's 10-point frame as the Buccaneers outpaced their scoring through the first three quarters over the final 10 minutes. Tyra Wright chipped in eight points on 3-of-5 shooting in the quarter as the Bucs outscored the Highlanders 16-8 in the paint late in the contest.

Radford (11-11, 9-4 Big South) utilized a 19-point halftime advantage on their way to cruising to the Big South sweep with their second win over the Bucs this season. The Highlanders shot 32.8% from the floor as a team in picking up the win.

Steede's 10 points led the Bucs overall in the contest as the senior forward went 4-of-8 with eight rebounds in the loss. Wright chipped in eight points prior to fouling out, while Kelsie Ruff had six points and six rebounds in the game.

Makaila Wilson led the Highlanders with 15 points off the bench on 5-of-12 shooting from behind the arc. Sydney Nunley added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Amele Ngwafang had five points and 10 boards in the win.

  • Charleston Southern shot 27.5% (14-of-51) from the floor, 11.1% (1-of-9) from the three-point line, and 68.8% (11-of-16) from the free throw line in the loss.
