CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Buccaneers kicked off the Holy City Showdown with a pair of wins, tallying 23 hits and a complete game shutout tossed by freshman
Annah Junge.
On the day, the Buccaneers hit .251 on the day, with a team high .257 hitting percentage in the win over Maine.
Madison Koger led the team with 5 RBIs after hitting her first homerun of the season and going 3-for-6 at the plate with three hits. Eight Buccaneers hit over .500 in the first day of the Holy City Showdown.

TOP OF THE SECOND
- Coppin State struck first after picking up a pair of runs in the second with a pair of walks and a single.
TOP OF THE THIRD
- SeaEnna Satcher led things off with a double down the left field line, her first hit of the year.
- With a single to the shortstop, Katelyn Norris picked up her first RBI of the game.
- After advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt from Sarah Brown, Mallory Kasinger would single up the middle to tie the game at two.
BOTTOM OF THE FIFTH
- Brewington led things off with a single to short and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
- Norris singled with a bunt to the pitcher to move Brewington to third.
- Sarah Brown picked up an RBI with a hit to left field to give the Bucs a 3-2 lead.
- Rhiana Hubbard tallied an RBI with a sacrifice fly to score Norris.
- With the bases loaded, Summer Moore recorded a two-run RBI double to left to extend the lead 6-2.
- In the next at bat, Madison Koger hit her first homerun of the year with a three-run shot to left center to put the Bucs within one run of the run rule against the Eagles.
- With runners on second and third, Sarah Brown picked up her second hit of the game to score Crosby and end the game in five innings.
Annah Junge earned the win and improved her record to 3-2 on the year.

TOP OF THE FOURTH
- To lead off the fourth, Ashlyn Cribb reached base after being hit by a pitch.
- Meghan Gagliano entered the game to pinch run and stole second.
- Koger stepped in and singled to left field to pick up her second hit and first RBI of the game.She advanced to second on the throw home from the Black Bears.
- Dominque Mannerino ripped the first pitch back up the middle to score Koger from second and heads up base running landed Mannerino on third. The Bucs held a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth where Annah Junge sat down the Black Bears in order.
TOP OF THE FIFTH
- Kasinger walked to begin the inning followed by back-to-back singles from Hubbard and Gagliano.
- Nina Del Rio dropped a ball in between center and right to bring in another insurance run.
- Maddie Koger drew a walk to bring in the fifth run of the game and her second RBI of the game.
TOP OF THE SEVENTH
- Gagliano singled with a bunt down the third base line.
- Mannerino picked up a triple with a rip to the center field wall to score Gagliano and extend the score to 6-0.
Annah Junge On the Day
- Went 2-0 on the opening day of Holy City Showdown to improve to 4-3
- Tallied a career high five strikeouts in the first game only to break it against Maine with ten strikeouts
- Last pitcher with ten strikeouts since April 28, 2004 against SSUW
- First freshman on record to record ten strikeouts in a complete game shutout
The Buccaneers return to the field tomorrow as they take on Coppin State at 1:30 p.m.
