CHARLESTON, S.C. - Shyanne Tuelle connected on a pair of free throws with 1.3 seconds remaining as Campbell escaped the Buccaneer Field House with a 43-42 win over host Charleston Southern on Tuesday night in a key Big South Conference matchup.

The Bucs (4-22, 2-15 Big South) held the lead throughout a majority of the game and CSU held off multiple Campbell (20-6, 15-2 Big South) scoring runs throughout the second half in a game defined by its defensive intensity. The two teams combined for 36 turnovers and 19 total steals in the second matchup between the Bucs and Camels this season as the lead never reached more than a two-possession game over the final 20:43 of the contest.

Sha'Mya Leigh scored all six of her points in the fourth quarter to pace the Bucs over the final 10 minutes of the contest as the freshman guard took charge in keeping the CSU lead intact. Both of her layups in the fourth quarter extended the CSU lead, while her pair of free throws with 14.3 seconds remaining gave the Bucs the 42-41 lead.

Following a pair of Campbell timeouts, the CSU defense was whistled for a foul on the final Camels' possession of the game and sent Tuelle to the free throw line with 1.3 seconds remaining. The Campbell guard converted the first and third attempts to swing the advantage back to the Camel, 42-41, and led to the Bucs calling a late timeout.

CSU had one attempt off the in-bounds pass, but
Kelsie Ruff's jumper fell short at the buzzer as the Camels completed the season-sweep over the Bucs with the one-point win.

Ruff led eight Buccaneers in the scoring column with eight points and added four rebounds as the Bucs shot 35.7% from the floor in the loss.
Cailah Hicklin added a season-high six points, while Walker and Leigh both chipped in six in the contests.
Tyra Wright added a team-high seven rebounds and three steals off the bench.

Taya Bolden led Campbell's scoring and rebounding efforts with a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double on Tuesday night. Luana Serranho added 13 points, including a 3-of-7 line from behind the arc, while Tuelle finished with 11 points and four steals in the win.

First Quarter – Charleston Southern 14, Campbell 9
Sharita Godfrey started the quarter with the hot-hand and
Kelsie Ruff drained the buzzer-beater to cap both ends of the first quarter for the Buccaneers as CSU went into the break with the five-point lead. Godfrey scored the first four points of the game with a pair of short jumpers before Bolden put the Camels on the scoreboard. Serranho connected on a three-pointer at the 4:02 mark to give Campbell its first lead of the game, but Ruff answered with a jumper to swing the advantage back to the Bucs. Ruff capped the scoring with a three-pointer from beyond the left wing at the buzzer to cap the quarter.

Second Quarter – Charleston Southern 23, Campbell 20
The second quarter belonged to CSU's
Cailah Hicklin and Campbell's Bolden as the two led their respective teams in both scoring and rebounding in the quarter. Hicklin's six points and five rebounds kept the Bucs in the lead as the senior forward's layup at the 1:35 mark gave CSU the 23-17 lead late in the quarter. Bolden posted eight points and eight rebounds for the Camels in the quarter and converted the last three points of the half with a three-point play to send the teams into the break with the Bucs ahead by three.

Third Quarter – Charleston Southern 32, Campbell 30
The Camels scored the first four points of the half to take the 25-23 lead following the Speight three-pointer, but
Tyra Wright responded on the Bucs' ensuing possession to knot the score up at 25-25 with 8:52 to play in the frame. CSU utilized a late five-point swing with Steede knocking down a three-pointer and Ruff converting a fast-break layup to head into the fourth quarter with the two-point edge.

Fourth Quarter – Campbell 43, Charleston Southern 42
It went all the way down to the wire, but Tuelle's late free throws secured the win for the Camels inside the Buccaneer Field House. CSU's lead hit four points twice in the quarter with Leigh's layup putting the Bucs ahead 34-30 with 8:46 remaining, while Myers connected on a pull-up jumper from the left elbow at the 7:02 mark to give CSU the 36-32 edge. The Camels responded each time and set up a battle over the final 4:33 of the game as neither team held more than a one-point lead the rest of the way, before the late-game free throws determined the final score.

- CSU's defense stepped up in a big way as the Buccaneers limited Campbell to just 5-of-32 (15.6%) shooting from the three-point line, the lowest average allowed by the Bucs in the 2019-20 season.
- Campbell's overall 28.1% shooting percentage was the third-lowest opponent field goal percentage this year.
