CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Charleston Southern's baseball team was picked seventh overall in the annual Big South Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Buccaneers received 41 points overall to finish behind Campbell (91 points, 7 first-place votes), High Point (82 points, 1 first-place vote), Radford (79 points, 1 first-place vote), Winthrop (74 points, 1 first-place vote), Presbyterian (60 points), and Gardner-Webb (50 points).
The Bucs return sophomore pitcher RJ Petit and senior first baseman Ryan Stoudemire, two players who earned Big South All Conference honors in the 2019. Senior pitchers Jaret Bennett and Seth Owens will be part of a veteran pitching staff while newcomers like senior outfielder Kyle Sandstrom and junior infielder Shane Kelleher will look to bolster a lineup that returns five starters.
Charleston Southern opens 2020 at home against Maryland. First pitch is set for 6pm from Nielsen Field @ CSU Ballpark and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
