CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern was unable to keep up their defensive effort in the overtime period as Presbyterian outscored the Bucs 10-2 over the five minute stretch as the Buccaneers fell at home to the Blue Hose on Tuesday night, 56-48.

With the game tied 46-46 at the end of regulation PC's Cortney Storey hit the Blue Hose's lone basket from the floor with a runner in the paint at the 3:47 mark and the Blue Hose went 8-for-8 from the free throw line the rest of the way as Charleston Southern was unable to mount a comeback in falling to Presbyterian for the second time this season.

The Bucs and Blue Hose are projected to face off against each other again really soon as CSU and PC right now are slated to be the no. 6 seed  - no. 11 seed contest in next week's VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Conference Championships hosted at The HTC Center from March 3-8.

Charleston Southern falls to 5-23, 1-18 in Big South play with the loss, while Presbyterian improves to 15-13, 10-9 overall with the win.

Tatum Jarvis led the Bucs with 16 points and added seven rebounds in 37 minutes action for CSU as the Buccaneers began their final home stand of the 2015 season. Monique Maximilien had six points and 12 rebounds and added two blocked shots to her team-leading total as the Bucs defense swarmed the ball early and often in leading a majority of the contest.

CSU held Presbyterian scoreless from the floor over the first 10:10 of the game as the Bucs built a 10-0 lead as Jarvis, Alyssa Mann and Maximilien all scored during the stretch. The CSU defense forced PC to go 0-12 from the floor during the stretch and forced seven Blue Hose turnovers. Aianna Kelly ended the shutout with a pair of free throws at the 10:19 mark before Tia Mason scored on a layup for the first PC basket of the contest.

The Bucs lead reached double-digits with 5:47 left in the half as Alise Karlsone and Jarvis connected on back-to-back three-pointers to put the score at 18-7. Karlsone hit a three-pointer four possessions later to put CSU back ahead 11 at 23-12 with 3:09 remaining before Presbyterian went on a 7-0 run to end the half.

Coming out of the break, the Blue Hose took their first lead of the game at the 16:09 mark on a layup by Kelly as the teams swapped the lead five times during the stretch with neither team building more than a three-point advantage until the 5:35 mark of the second half.

Presbyterian went up by six points late with 4:48 to play on a free throw from Keyonna Allen, but the Bucs responded with the next five points from the free throw line to put the score back within one.

A three-pointer by PC's Janie Miles was answered by a Jarvis triple on the other end and Alecia Hardy banked in a three-pointer for the Bucs with 1:33 to play as the game headed into overtime knotted up at 46-46.

In the overtime period, Alyssa Mann scored the lone CSU basket on a layup with 23 seconds remaining as the Blue Hose went up early before closing out the contest from the free throw line, hitting all eight of their shots from the stripe in the contest.

Kelly finished the game with a double-double, leading PC with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Storey added 13 points and a team-high four assists. Miles was also in double-digits with 11 points and two steals.

Charleston Southern finishes out the 2014-15 regular season slate at home on Saturday afternoon hosting Longwood on Senior Day. The Bucs will recognize their three 2014-15 seniors, Alise Karlsone, Christal Barnett and Natasha Lebedeva, in a pregame ceremony. Tipoff against the Lancers inside the Buc Dome is set for 2 p.m.
