Box Score

CONWAY, S.C. - Tatum Jarvis led three players in double-digits on Tuesday night as Charleston Southern took on Coastal Carolina inside The HTC Center, but the Buccaneers were not able to overcome a halftime deficit in falling to the Chanticleers, 65-51.

Inside the arena that will host the 2015 Big South Conference Championships from March 3-8, Jarvis led the way for the Bucs with 12 points in eclipsing the 600 career point mark in the CSU Blue and Gold. She added a pair of three-pointers to bring her team-leading total to 41 on the season in the CSU loss.

Monique Maximilien added 10 points from the floor and contributed two blocked shots, while Alecia Hardy was in double-digits off the bench with 10 points and a team-high three steals. Hardy did a majority of her damage from the free throw line in the contest, going 8-of-11 from the charity stripe in the game.

Alyssa Mann added eight points and six assists in setting up the CSU offense as the Bucs shot 32.8% from the floor.

AJ Jordan led the way for the Chanticleers with 21 points, while Jas Adams (18) and Alexis Robinson (14) were also in double-digits for the Chants. Robinson narrowly missed out on the double-double with a game-high nine rebounds as Coastal won the rebounding edge 44-28 in the contest.

Jarvis connected on the jumper to take the early lead as the Bucs and Chants battled back and forth over the first five minutes of the game. CSU and Coastal swapped the lead nine times during stretch before Coastal went up 13-11 with 14:17 to play on the three-pointer by Adams.

The triple sparked the Coastal offense as the Chanticleers went on a 10-0 run, going up 20-11 on a second Adams trey. The Bucs responded with back-to-back jumpers by Maximilien and Mann to bring the game back to within five, but another Coastal run gave the Chants a double-digit lead with 6:13 to play on a Jordan jumper.

The jumper put the score at 27-17 and Coastal Carolina would lead by as many as 19 heading into the half as the teams went into the break with CSU trailing 40-21.

Charleston Southern battled back into the game from the free throw line in the second half as CSU went 10-of-13 from the stripe led by Hardy's 8-of-11 performance to cut the lead down to 14 with 7:33 to play. Hardy connected on the jumper to pull the Bucs back to within 55-41, but another 7-0 stretch by the Chants over the ensuing four minutes put the Chants back ahead by 20.

CSU made one final rally late in the half as Hardy and Jarvis connected on six straight free throws and Jarvis hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds, but it was not enough as the Bucs fell inside The HTC Center.

CSU remains on the road this weekend as the Bucs make the trip to Lynchburg, Va., and the Vines Center as the Bucs take on Big South leader Liberty on Saturday night. Tipoff between the Bucs and the Flames is set for 7 p.m.
