Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern struggled from the floor in Big South Conference play on Thursday night in the Buc Dome in falling to the visiting High Point Panthers, 77-44.
Alyssa Mann scored a team-high 11 points for the Bucs, while Christal Barnett had seven points, six rebounds and four steals off the bench for Charleston Southern as CSU used a 6-0 run at the end of the first half to fight their way back into the game. However, High Point's Stacia Robertson scored 15 of her game-high 24 points in the second half as the Panthers cruised to their fifth conference win of the season.
Charleston Southern falls to 3-10 overall, 0-5 in the Big South with the loss, while High Point improves to 9-6, 5-1 in conference play with the win.
Alecia Hardy added eight points for CSU in the contest, while Nayla Long had four points in her first extended action of the season as CSU shot 25.5% from the floor as a team in the game.
Latrice Phelps narrowly missed out on the double-double for High Point with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Lindsay Puckett hit a pair of three-pointers on her way to a 10 point performance.
The Bucs continue Big South Conference play on the road this weekend as CSU makes the trip to Boiling Springs, N.C. and Gardner-Webb University on Saturday afternoon. The Bucs and Runnin' Bulldogs tipoff the Big South's ESPN3 slate with tipoff between the Big South foes set for 4:30 p.m.
