CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern cut into the deficit against Presbyterian early in the second half on a Marley Brown three-pointer, but the Blue Hose held off the Buccaneers charge late as CSU fell in Big South play on Thursday night inside the Templeton Center, 66-55.

Brown scored a career-high 10 points in the contest and Tatum Jarvis was also in double-digits for the Bucs as CSU jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to complete the season sweep against the Blue Hose as Charleston Southern split the season series with Presbyterian.

The Buccaneers fall to 8-20, 4-15 in Big South play with the loss on Thursday, while PC improves to 11-18, 9-11 in conference action with the victory.

Jarvis led CSU on the night with 11 points in 30 minutes' action as the Buccaneers shot 37.5 percent as a team in the game. Brown added 10 points, including going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line in the loss, while Anicia Dotson had eight points and five rebounds for the Bucs.

Taylor led all players with her 20 point effort, connecting on five three-pointers in the game, while Keyonna Allen had 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench for PC. Aianna Kelly was also in double-digits with 10 points in the victory as the Blue Hose shot 54.3 percent from the floor as a team.

Megan Schaaf opened the scoring with the opening layup, but Erin Bratcher drained her first three-point attempt on the night to give CSU the early lead as the Buccaneers and Blue Hose traded salvos in the opening minutes. Nayla Long followed with a steal and layup on the break to put CSU ahead 5-2 as the teams traded the lead six times over the first five minutes before Kelly put the Blue Hose up 10-9 with 15:15 to play.

CSU's last lead of the contest came at the 14 minute mark as Dotson connected on a triple to put the Bucs ahead 12-10, but Allen followed with a layup to even the score on the next Presbyterian possession. The Allen layup sparked a 20-4 run over the next seven minutes as Taylor connected on a three-pointer with 4:59 remaining in the half to put the score at 30-16.

The Buccaneers cut the deficit down to 10 points following a pair of free throws by Brown with 36 ticks remaining in the first half, but Sherece Smith followed with a layup for the Blue Hose as Charleston Southern went into the half trailing 35-23 at the break.

Out of the break, Presbyterian scored the first two baskets as Kelly and Smith both drove in for layups, but CSU responded with a 16-4 run to bring the deficit all the way back to within four on a three-pointer by Brown at the 10:23 mark. Jarvis had four points during the stretch and Dotson drained her second triple of the night as the Bucs narrowed the game back to within 43-39 midway through the second half.

Allen and CSU's Brianna Lakes traded baskets to keep the margin at four points, but three straight three-pointers by Taylor helped Presbyterian stretch the lead back out to double-digits at 54-42 with 5:47 to play.

Charleston Southern made one final run in the last minute, bringing the game back to within seven on an Alyssa Mann layup with 45 seconds remaining, but the Blue Hose connected on their final seven free throw attempts in closing out the 66-55 victory.

Charleston Southern remains on the road this weekend, traveling to Paul Porter Arena and Boiling Springs, N.C. to take on Gardner-Webb University on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff between the Bucs and the Runnin' Bulldogs is set for 3 p.m.
