CHARLESTON, S.C - The Buccaneers of Charleston Southern lost to the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina at a score of 61-58. The loss drops the Bucs' record to 13-15 (7-8, Big South) and the win brings Coastal Carolina's record to 10-18 (4-12, Big South).

The Chanticleers jumped out to an early lead with a 15-0 run to start the game. The Bucs came out of the gates slow missing on their first 13 attempts from the field. A layup by senior guard Katie Tull at the 11:34 mark finally broke the poor shooting spell and got the Buccaneers on the scoreboard.

On the other side of the floor Coastal's senior guard Sydnei Moss was off to a stellar shooting start. Moss hit on her first six attempts from the field and had 14 points in the opening frame. She was making her mark on the game early after missing the first game against CSU earlier this season with an injury.

Charleston Southern would respond and started to shoot the ball much better, they would go on a 13-0 run of their own to tie the score at 26-26, this after trailing by as many as 15.

Despite all their early shooting woes, the Buccaneers went into the locker room only trailing by only two points at a score of 30-28.

CSU didn't wait long into the second half to take their first lead of the night. A deep three from Tull just 30 seconds in would give the Bucs the lead.

Charleston Southern had switched their defense to an extended matchup 3-2 zone, taking the Chanticleers out of rhythm on offense.

The game would remain close throughout the second half, with the highest lead for either team being seven points.

The score was knotted up at 56 apiece with two minutes to play, but turnovers in the closing minutes would cost the Bucs.

Leading the Buccaneers in scoring on senior night were CSU's pair of senior guards; Kelsey Wasmer and Katie Tull. Wasmer had 20 points on 4-of-9 shooting from deep. Tull had 23 points. Lakeitha Alston also added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds on the night.

Leading Coastal Carolina was Sydnei Moss who had a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

Charleston Southern recognized their seniors tonight but their final home game of the season will be on Monday, when they will take on in state rival Winthrop. Tip-off for that game is slated for 7 p.m. in the Buc Dome.
