HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Charleston Southern Buccaneers lost in the Advanced Auto Parts Big South Championship Quarterfinals at the hands of tournament host High Point at a score of 77-49. The loss ends their season with an overall record of 14-16 (8-8, Big South Regular Season).

Charleston Southern never seemed to get their bearings in today's contest. The Panthers opened the game by going on an 8-0 run and drew a time out from the Bucs not even a minute into the game. High Point would start 4-for-4 from behind the arc, with Mackenzie Maier hitting on three of those.

That shooting touch for the Panthers would be the prevailing theme throughout the game. The Panthers missed on only two attempts from the field in the first 13 minutes of action. They made ten of their first twelve shots from the field, that included six three pointers. High Point were hitting seemingly everything, even tough contested shots were falling.

CSU shot just 27% from the floor in the first half going 8-of-30, including only 1-of-9 from three-point range.

At the end of the first half the Buccaneers trailed at a score of 43-21.

The second half was much like the first. High Point continued to pour it on with stellar shooting, while Charleston Southern could not force enough misses on the defensive end to substantially narrow the margin.

The Panthers would shoot 69% (11-of-16) from beyond the arc for the game. Even that astounding number is somewhat deceptive. Two of their six misses from three-point land being in end of half desperation situations.

The Bucs would compete until the end, even with outcome of the game being well in hand before the final buzzer would sound.

The loss effectively ends the careers of four Buccaneers barring another invitation to a postseason tournament. Katie Tull, Kelsey Wasmer, Lydia Johnson, and Abby Poole, all played in their final games for Charleston Southern University. Two of those seniors Wasmer and Tull were in double-figure scoring. Wasmer had 15 points while Tull had 12. Johnson led the Buccaneers with seven rebounds.

High Point advances to the semifinals where they will face the regular season Big South Champion Liberty University. Liberty advanced after a close win over 8 seed Coastal Carolina in the game preceding Charleston Southern's.
