D'Ostroph named Big South Golfer of the WeekOctober 19, 2012CSU senior finished fourth at Wendy's Invitational CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charleston Southern senior Amanda D’Ostroph (Whispering Pines, N.C.) has been selected as the Choice Hotels Big South Men’s and Women’s Golfer of the Week, respectively, for events played Oct. 11-17, it was announced today by the Conference office. D’Ostroph finished fourth at the CSU Wendy’s Invitational (par 72, 6,011 yards) for her best finish of the fall season. She carded a 5-over 221 (73-72-76) and was the top finisher among the 16 Big South golfers in the event. D’Ostroph earned a spot on the All-Tournament team and helped the Lady Bucs to a third-place team standing. High Point senior Chase Wilson (Zanesville, Ohio) was named Men’s Golfer of the Week. Wilson won his second consecutive tournament, shooting a 2-under 208 to win the Donald Ross Intercollegiate (par 70, 6,718 yards). Wilson fought through windy and rainy conditions to shoot a 1-under 69 in the first round and a 2-under 68 in the second round. He then overcame a four-over par performance on the front nine of the final round with three birdies on the back to card a 1-over 71. Wilson won by one stroke over the 36-hole leader as well as 19 other Big South golfers in the field. Other Men’s Golfer of the Week nominees: Roberto Ballesteros (Coastal Carolina), Daniel Kim (Gardner-Webb), Samuel Jackson (Presbyterian College), Max McKay (Liberty), Kamito Hirai (Winthrop).
