Jekyll Island, Ga. - The Charleston Southern women's golf team had the best round of the Eat-A-Peach Collegiate Invitational to date, carding a team 294 (+6) to draw within one stroke of host and leader Mercer University after the second day of the tournament. CSU extended its margin over third-place North Florida to 12 strokes. The Lady Bucs were paced by Katelyn Bensch, who recorded the best round of play with a one-under 71 to draw within one stroke of the individual leader, Mercer's Mary Alice Murphy. Murphy is at even par after rounds of 71 and 73 today. Other Lady Bucs in the top ten individually were Torey Johnson (T5th) at 147, Casey McNeil (8th) at 150, and Vanessa Jay (10th) at 152. The final round will tee off at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. |
