CHARLESTON, S.C. - Amanda D’Ostroph led the Buccaneers in their first action of the 2012 season, finishing with a team-best 231 on the weekend as Charleston Southern finished 24th overall at the Cougar Classic held at Yeaman’s Hall Country Club over Monday and Tuesday.

Torey Johnson held the low round of the day for the Buccaneers, firing a 79 over the final 18 holes as Charleston Southern finished with a 934 over the three day tournament, finishing behind tournament champion University of Florida.

D’Ostroph, who recorded her lowest round of the tournament for the Buccaneers on the second day with a 73, carded a final day 80 in finishing out the event with a 231 to finish tied for 93rd overall.

Johnson, aided by her final round 79, finished two strokes back with a 233, while Casey MacNeil finished with a 236 in her first collegiate tournament.

Vanessa Jay and Katelyn Bensch closed out the tournament as well for Coach Matthew Cram-Smith, finishing with a 238 and 241 respectively.

The Lady Bucs are back on the course on September 17-18 as they travel to Louisville, Ky. to take part in the Cardinal Cup, hosted by the University of Louisville.
