Tournament-best round leads Bucs to 24th place finish in KiawahFebruary 23, 2010KIWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women’s golf team shot their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, a 26-over 314, and finished 24th at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic, hosted by College of Charleston. Three Buccaneers shot their best individual tournament rounds at Kiawah’s Oak Point course. The University of Miami began the day tied for 7th but shot a team round of 289 on Tuesday to claim the tournament title at 892 (+28). The Hurricanes finished just a shot clear of Minnesota, while overnight leader Augusta State faded on Tuesday and finished 3rd. East Tennessee State’s Nina Muehl and Oral Roberts’ Crystal Reeves tied for medalist honors at three-under 213. Charleston Southern’s Olivia Jordan-Higgins shot a Tuesday 78 and finished tied for 25th, at 226 (+10). Freshman Amanda D’Ostroph also fired a 78 on Tuesday and finished tied for 90th, at 238 (+22). Madison Jeter tied for 131st after a final round 82 put her at 247 (+31) overall. Katrin Rumpf finished in a 138th place tie after shooting 78 and posting a three-day score of 250 (+34). Katelyn Bensch finished tied for 146th after posting a Tuesday 80, putting her at 35-over 251. D’Ostroph, Rumpf and Bensch each shot their best round of the tournament on Tuesday. CSU will take next week off before heading to the Adminstaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga. on March 7. FINAL RESULTS |
