Charleston Southern Discontinues Men's Tennis ProgramJune 13, 2008By CSU Sports Information CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern University has announced it will discontinue its men’s tennis program, effective immediately. The 2008 team finished with a 12-9 overall record, with a 4-2 Big South record, tying for second place in the Conference. “This has been a very difficult decision to make,” said CSU Athletics Director Hank Small. “This decision allows us to reallocate our resources to enhance the competitiveness of our remaining 16 Division I sports.” Mike Baker, who coached both the men’s and the women’s programs for the past two years, will remain at CSU as the coach of the women’s program. In his first three years at CSU, Baker claimed Big South Coach of the Year for the women's team in 2007, and has guided 12 all-conference selections.
