Lady Buccaneer Golf Wraps Up First Round at Pinehurst ChallengeMarch 9, 2008

PINEHURST, N.C. – Sophomore Olivia Jordan-Higgins finished the first day among the tournament leaders at the Pinehurst Challenge in par-three scoring to lead the CSU women’s golf team. Jordan-Higgins played the four par-three holes at one-under and finished with a round of 80, earning her a share of 31st place to lead the Lady Bucs after the first day.
Jordan-Higgins, who shot a 42 on the front nine, recorded a 38 on the way in to help CSU record a team score of 338 after day one of the Pinehurst Challenge.
East Tennessee State leads the team competition by four strokes, posting a score of 307 as a squad in the first round. Steffi Kirchmayr of the College of Charleston and Christine Wolf of Tennessee-Chattanooga are tied for top individual honors after carding identical scores of 73 (+1) on the first day.
Behind Jordan-Higgins, sophomore Madison Jeter is next in the Lady Buccaneer pecking order after shooting an 84 in the first round. Over the four par-five holes, Jeter averaged 4.75 strokes to finish at one-under on the long-distance holes for the day. Her efforts earned her a share of 80th place with two rounds left to play.
Sophomore Katrin Rumpf and junior Rhiannon Loebs finished the day in a tie for 103rd place, posting identical scores of 87 in the first round. Kinsey Green was the final Lady Buccaneer at the Pinehurst Challenge, placing 115 after 18 holes.
Second round competition will continue on Tuesday with a shotgun start scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Pinehurst #8 in Pinehurst, N.C.Related Item: Box Score
