CSU Set For Rematch with Coastal Saturday

Women's Basketball
Rachelle Coward is the Raising Cane's CSU Athlete of the Week for the Week of Jan. 3. A red-shirt junior guard from Nova Scotia, Coward averaged 21 points per game and shot 49 percent from the floor to lead the Bucs to a 3-1 record over Christmas break, including a 2-0 mark in Big South play. The forward put up a career-high 30 points, shooting 59 percent the Buccaneers’ 78-63 win over Maine on December 21. She later matched that performance with 30 points on 64 percent from the field in the squad’s 83-78 win over Winthrop on Jan. 2. Coward started her break with 21 points against Florida on Dec. 20 as part of the Gator Holiday Classic. In the four game span, she collected 20 rebounds, dished out four assists and came away with three steals. She was also named the Big South Choice Hotels Player of the Week for her efforts.
